Conductive Diamond Layers
Chemical Vapour Deposition, CVD
Conductive diamond layers are produced in an activated gas phase. During this process called Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) the gas phase consisting of hydrogen, added methane – for the production of diamond – and a gaseous boron compound is activated by hot filaments (HF).
After a special pre-treatment the electrode substrates are exposed to this gas phase. If substrate temperatures between 600°C and 900°C and suitable acitivation conditions are maintained coherent, polycrystallinge diamond layers are formed on the electrode surface. During the coating process boron is added into the diamond layer.
By adding different amounts of boron the conductivity of HFCVD diamond layers can be adjusted to different applications as DIACHEM® electrodes.
EAOP® – Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Process
The unique property of diamond electrodes is the production of oxidants directly from the water. This is the basis of the Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Process (EAOP®).
EAOP® is a very effective addition to common treatment methods and an environmentally friendly process for reducing organic pollutants in water.
The Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Process EAOP® produces highly oxidative hydroxyl radicals OH* by current-controlled electrolysis in aqueous solutions.
The redox potential is 2,8 eV. Solutions for different applications can be provided by process control.
